Faith and Charity

"Faith is the evidence of things unseen,
the substance of things hoped for” (Hebrews 11:1)

Charities

I support the charities and causes listed below and am lending my time and effort to help them raise money. First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, PolicyLink and the Randal Pinkett Scholarship Fund at Rutgers University, are all doing incredible work to improve the lives of others, so I encourage every visitor to my website to learn more about each of these organizations and consider making a donation to support their work.

First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens has long been a church that is active in the community and continues to serve the neighborhood in areas of housing, employment, health care, youth development and economic development. The church is one of the leaders in New Jersey in the faith based community development movement just as the church was a leader in the 1960's in the civil rights movement. Worship, Discipleship, Stewardship, Fellowship and Caring Nurture are the cornerstones for conducting ministry at First Baptist Church.

One Economy is a national non-profit organization created to be a catalyst for innovation and change. They help bring access to technology into the homes of low-income people around the country, and use that technology to connect low-income people to information and tools they can use to build assets and improve their lives. Through The Beehive, they have created an opportunity for non-profit organizations to more efficiently deliver information and services; governments to communicate with constituents; businesses to reach new markets; and low-income people to move beyond being passive recipients of services to better-informed consumers and producers.

PolicyLink is a national nonprofit research, communications, capacity building, and advocacy organization working to advance policies to achieve economic and social equity. PolicyLink collaborates with a broad range of partners to implement strategies to ensure that everyone—including those from low-income communities of color—can contribute to and benefit from economic growth and prosperity. Among their regional equity approaches is equitable development, a comprehensive local, regional, and state framework emphasizing equitable public investment, the fair distribution of affordable housing, and community strategies to improve health

The Randal Pinkett Scholarship Fund at Rutgers University was established in 1994 by the Rutgers African American Alumni Alliance (RAAA) to provide financial assistance to students enrolled at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The scholarship is awarded to full-time undergraduate students based on academic merit and financial need as determined by the financial aid office. RAAA, founded in 1989, is the only association of African-American, Afro-Caribbean and African alumni that includes all of Rutgers University's undergraduate colleges and graduate schools on all seven campuses.
