Dr. Randal Pinkett Among Fifty Participants
of the Living Cities Technology and Community Development Summit
LEESBURG, VA (October 23 2002) -- Dr. Randal
Pinkett is among fifth influential participants in the community
development sector who will be brought together for two intensive
days of meetings by the Technology Committee of Living Cities,
to adopt an agenda for transforming the sector's organizations
and enabling them to achieve greater results. At the top of
the agenda are the following seven key themes: (1) use technology
to characterize communities and reveal the dynamics of local
change, (2) improve efficiency within all CDCs, (3) raise expectations
for the use of technology, (4) support policy advocacy with
"storytelling" and data, (5) encourage more fruitful
collaboration among community development organizations, (6)
build networks that include providers in complementary fields,
and (7) reinvigorate community development institutions. The
Summit is sponsored by Living Cities with additional generous
support from the Fannie Mae Foundation and the Surdna Foundation,
and will be held November 13-15, 2002, at the Xerox Training
Center in Leesburg, VA.

Dr. Randal Pinkett Selected for the
Rockefeller Foundation's Next Generation Leadership Fellows
Program
NEW YORK, NY (December 2, 2002) -- Dr. Randal
Pinkett was recently selected to participate in the Rockefeller
Foundation's Next Generation Leadership (NGL) Fellows program.
Each year, NGL selects a group of 24 outstanding individuals
with demonstrated leadership skills generally between the ages
of 25 and 50. They are diverse in race, ethnicity, and sexual
orientation and represent different economic backgrounds and
ideological perspectives. Applicants are selected from various
fields and sectors, including business, government, law, the
unions, non-profit organizations, religion, the military, media,
and the arts. Participants have a defined constituency or sphere
of influence and a demonstrated commitment to developing new
solutions to difficult problems. The two-year program is designed
to provide new insights and skills that can be applied creatively
to enduring problems threatening democracy in this country and
the world. The program aims to utilize conceptual frameworks
for examining challenges facing the U.S. and the world and develop
strategic collaboration amongst participants. The goal is for
participants to use these models to concretely solve complex
problems while also learning to transfer gained knowledge and
skills to others.

Dr. Randal Pinkett to Address NAACP
Youth and College Division
HOUSTON, TX (June 19, 2002) -- Dr. Randal Pinkett
will address the NAACP's Youth and College Division at the NAACP's
Annual Convention, July 10-11, 2002, in Houston, TX. Dr. Pinkett
will sit on a panel focused on the influence of media on youth.
The NAACP's missionis to ensure the political, educational,
social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to
eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.The NAACP's
vision is to ensure a society in which all individuals have
equal rights and there is no racial hatred or racial discrimination.The
NAACP has one of the largest organized groups of young people
of any secular organization in the country. Some 67,000 youth
are involved with the NAACP through its Youth Councils and College
Division. Its objectives are to inspire, motivate, and create
intrest in civic activities; provide young people with an understanding
of pertinent issues; develop organizational skills for implementation
of community-related activities; and encourage active participation
in these activities.

Sarnoff Corporation Asks Minorities
in Engineering Program Alum, Dr. Randal Pinkett to Return and
Address 2002 Graduates
PRINCETON, NJ (May 16, 2002) -- The Sarnoff
Corporation has asked Dr. Randal Pinkett, a 1986 participant
in their Minoritries in Engineering (MEP) program, to return
for the third year in a row and address the 2002 program graduates.
The program dinner will be held on June 6, 2002, at 6:30 pm,
at Sarnoff's headquarters in Princeton, NJ. The fundamental
intent of the program is to provide minority students from local
high schools, with an aptitude in mathematics and science, with
an understanding and appreciation of an engineer's work and
routine, so that he or she can make an informed choice about
the engineering profession. Sarnoff Corporation has always affirmed
and demonstrated a deep commitment to the education of youth
at all stages of their social and intellectual growth. For 25
years, the flagshgip of Sarnoff's educational programs has been
MEP–the Minorities in Engineering Program. Sarnoff Corporation,
formerly the central research laboratory for RCA, has participated
in the MEP program since its inception in 1975. MEP continued
at Sarnoff after the merger between RCA and General Electric
in 1986. When Sarnoff became an independent client-supported
reseaerch facility and a subsidiary of SRI International in
1987, MEP became the first program to be sponsored by the new
company.

New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund
Student Day Conference Invites Dr. Randal Pinkett to Return
as Keynote Speaker
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (March 18, 2002) -- This year's
New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Professional Association
(NJEOFPA) Student Day Conference will again feature Dr. Randal
Pinkett as the luncheon keynote speaker, a role he played at
the same conference in 1998. New Jersey's EOF program provides
special assistance to young men and women from economically
and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds who are pursuing
degrees at institutions of higher education. EOF also serves
to increase campus diveristy. While participation is not limited
to minority students, EOF sponsors more than one-third of the
African American and Latino students at the state colleges and
New Jersey's independent institutions, and over one-quarter
of the African American and Latino students enrolled at New
Jersey colleges and universities participate in the EOF program.
EOF enrolls about 12.5% of the first-time, full-time New Jersey
freshmen who enter the state's colleges and universities each
fall.NJEOFPA is a non-profit corporation comprised of professional
staff--including directors, administrators, educators, and counselors
from some 56 undergraduate college and university programs throughout
the state.

Dr. Randal Pinkett Receives 2002 MOBE
Influencers and Innovators of the Internet and Technology Award
NEW YORK, NY (March 17, 2002) -- Dr. Randal
Pinkett, President and CEO of BCT Partners, is among the award
recipients of this year's Marketing Opportunities in Business
and Entertainment (MOBE) Influencers and Innovators of the Internet
and Technology Award. MOBE launched the MOBE IT and the IT Awards
recognizing the influencers and innovators of the Internet and
technology in 1999 bringing together some of the most accomplished
African Americans and those who have championed digital inclusion
"in real time" for the first time ever. The other
2002 awardeees Our MOBE IT Awardees include: Geary S. Broadnax,
President and CEO, INSYNC Internet Services, Inc.; Dr. Milton
Chen, Executive Director of The George Lucas Educational Foundation
(GLEF), Kenneth A. Granderson, Founder and CEO, Inner-City Software;

Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Award Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Award to Dr.
Randal Pinkett
CAMBRIDGE, MA (January 18, 2002) -- The Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) will present the Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Leadership Award to Dr. Randal Pinkett (M.B.A.
and S.M. from the MIT Leaders for Manufacturing Program, both
in 1998; Ph.D. 2002 from the MIT Media Laboratory) for his work
in the community in the alumni category. This year's awards
breakfast will be held on February 8, 2002, at 7:30 am, on the
campus of MIT in Walker Memorial 's Morss Hall. The theme of
this year's breakfast is "From Dreams to Reality: The Illusion
of Full Inclusion." Tavis Smiley, television correspondent,
author and political commentator, will serve as the keynote
speaker. The other award recipients include: MIT Professor Paul
E. Gray, in the faculty category; Tamara S. Williams (S.M. 2000)
in the graduate student category; and Campus Police Sgt. Cheryl
Vossmer in the administrator/staff category.
